Fall 2013 (daytime)
As I look back, I believe this was the first lucid-state dream I ever had where I directly confronted and “outed” a demonic spirit – whom was compelled to confess its true identity to me, in the name of Jesus Christ (I John 4:1).
I was taking a nap in my bedroom this day, when I had found myself (in the dream) in what appeared to be an exact copy of my room. Then, as I came to and looked toward the end of my room by the window – I saw standing in front of me a distorted form of a woman that I had known from back in high school.
The distortion was a quite unnatural, rail-thin form of her; almost comical, but with an element of lingering fear due to the cognizant state of the encounter (as there was a sentient being right in front of me assuming this unnatural form).
I was beginning to seriously study deliverance ministry at this time, so I approached this odd being and said “In the name of Jesus, are you a demon?”
“Yes” was its immediate, affirmative response!
I then awoke soon afterward...amazed at how the Bible's testimony on evil spirits was, evidently, very real.
To begin, our houses in dreams are a symbolic representation of our life (ref. Matthew 12:43-45 & Luke 11:24-26). So, in part, this dream was communicating something involving my current life (as this occurred in my present house).
In addition, this brief dream occurred in my bedroom, which represents issues pertaining to intimacy or privacy.
- One's Body (Soul/Spirit) Described as a "House"
...(43)When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. (44)Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. (45)Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation...

(25)And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. (26)Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first...
- Bedrooms Represent Intimacy (Sexual), Privacy, & Personal Areas
...(29)And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt: (30)But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
(31)And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head...
...(1)And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. (2)Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
(3)Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: (4)Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch...
- Why did I see a rail-thin, distorted form of the woman I knew from high school?
This was a masquerading familiar spirit (a demon) appearing to me. And evil spirits, for the most part, are able to disguise themselves into virtually any kind of conceivable form. The catch to this, however, is that they must have "legal grounds" under the jurisdiction of God's spiritual laws (i.e. His Word) in order to assume a particular disguise.
Which brings to the next logical question...
...Why was this evil spirit able to disguise itself as this woman I knew? And why was she a rail-thin form?
- Familiar Spirits: Malevolent Masqueraders
I Samuel 28:3-11
...(3)Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. (4)And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
(5)And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. (6)And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. (7)Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
(8)And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. (9)And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? (10)And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
(11)Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel...
II Corinthians 11:12-15
...(12)But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. (13)For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (14)And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (15)Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works...
- Why did this spirit respond with "yes", upon my asking if it was a demon, in the name of Jesus?
Because evil spirits -- by God's spiritual law -- are unable to lie, when questioned under the authority of His name.
- Test the Spirits
...(42)Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. (43)Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. (44)Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (45)And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not...
I John 4:1-3
...(1)Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
(2)Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: (3)And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world...
- Admonishment and Standard for Studying Scripture
...(10)And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. (11)These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (12)Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few...
II Corinthians 13:1
...This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established...
II Timothy 2:15-16
...(15)Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (16)But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness...
- Realities of Spiritual Warfare
...(10)Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (11)Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12)For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(13)Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (14)Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (15)And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (16)Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (17)And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God...
II Corinthians 10:3-6
...(3)For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4)(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (6)And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled...
- God Gives Ability to Understand & Interpret Dreams
...(6)And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. (7)And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? (8)And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you...
...(13)And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. (14)And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. (15)And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. (16)And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. (17)And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do...
...(6)Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: (7)Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego...
...(17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams...
