I have found this commandment in I John 4:1 to be very important in dreams; almost like a "Spiritual Warfare 101" type of lesson. Reason being is because demons -- almost always, I've found -- masquerade in some kind of deceiving form.
(big "red flag" example: if you're having frequent dreams involving interaction with family or loved ones...those probably aren't your family and loved ones. Ask them, in Jesus' name, if they're demons. They'll give an honest answer)
And while it's very important to "know thine enemy", it's also important to be aware of your allies.
This dream encounter illustrates a case where an angel of the Lord correctly identified himself to me, according to I John 4:1. His subtle manner of glowing appearance also lines up with various passages in Scripture. A masquerading familiar spirit appeared shortly thereafter and attempted to disguise himself as this very angel; leading to an additional lesson on the more finer points in exercising discernment.
May this testimony be a help for you fellow spiritual warriors out there.

One who went to be with the Lord...and one who didn't.
Upon waking after experiencing this vivid dream I was quite unsettled
Almost immediately after we played on that Ouija board, paranormal events caused by demonic spirits
started occurring in the rental house that we were all staying at.
And one evil dream, in particular, even manifested itself in the physical upon my waking up.
As I recall, this was one of the earliest evil supernatural experiences that I had, as a young adult.
