As I recall, this was one of the first extended "lucid-state" dreams that I've had (i.e. where I'm consciously aware and cognizant of being in a dream).
Just prior to this occurring, I was experience some kind of struggle within another dream -- and could hear a still, small voice that said to me "Don't give up so easily..."
(I believe this was the Holy Ghost encouraging me).
After this, I came to and appeared on the street of my old neighborhood; with my old house just a bit further down and along my right. In a bit of awe, I started walking...moving...and looking around curiously, as everything was very vivid. It was almost "sparkly", as in a kind of atmospheric demeanor.
As I continued to walk forward, I passed by an old yellow house of one of my neighbor's, off to my left.
Suddenly, I then saw an elderly couple appear in their front yard and kindly waving at me.
I found myself unable to speak, but I began motioning to them with both of my hands: first pointing at both of them, and then pointing upward toward the sky (in effect, asking "Did you go to Heaven?"). The first person over to the left (the elderly woman) smiled and nodded in response -- while the one over on the right (the elderly man) scowled and thrust both his hands out in a pushing away motion, in disgust.
Still unable to speak, I then turned my attention over to this man, clasping both my hands together and emotionally pleading with him to reconsider.
Suddenly, and as before, I see a third person now standing next to him, looking as if he had a halo & angel wings outfit on (oddly enough, like something you'd expect to see a child wear during Halloween). This third person seemed to be trying to talk and plead with him also -- while the man continued to frown and maintain a demeanor of firm rejection.
After seeing this, the entire scene then faded away before my eyes -- as I now saw a momentary vision of pitch-black darkness, save for a dimly visible and rising section resembling a red, lava-like abyss from below. Accompanying this also was a deep, audible roaring sound reverberating (like rushing waterfalls within a cavern) and rapidly growing in volume.
Immediately after this, I awoke screaming.
- Me struggling in that prior dream and hearing the "still, small voice" encouraging me, directly points to I Kings 19:12, as the general manner in which God speaks to a person's spirit.
- ...not sure why I could not speak. Perhaps, the Lord willed for this encounter to be entirely non-verbal?
- The third person which appeared and had, what appeared to be, a child's angel outfit on over his clothes...is still a bit of an anomaly to me. I do believe, though, that he was an angel of the LORD attempting to minister to the old man's spirit (was this in response to my pleading?). Hebrews 1:14 does call His angels "ministering spirits". His form could have, also, been a direct correlation with the power of my prayer...
- At the very end, I believe that the Lord permitted me to see a very small bit of what this lost old man saw, as he descended down into the pit (as Job 18:5-21 especially testifies of).
I Kings 19:11-12
...(11)And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
(12)And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice...
...(5)Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. (6)The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him. (7)The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down. (8)For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare. (9)The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him. (10)The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way. (11)Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet. (12)His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side. (13)It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
(14)His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors. (15)It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation. (16)His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
(17)His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
(18)He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. (19)He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. (20)They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
(21)Surely such as the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God...
...(8)But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
(9)Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (10)And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (11)They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; (12)And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. (13)But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? (14)Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?...
