I just had a dream where I confronted a...seemingly...more powerful demon and was unable to cast him out.
This demon took the form of my old boss from a recent job (my boss was Mormon. ...Not sure if there's a correlation). Upon being asked in the name of Jesus if he was a demon (1 John 4:1), he merely smirked and laughed, and answered "...yeah".
During another fragment of my dream, I was somehow playing a fighting video game similar to a franchise called Mortal Kombat. And during the character selection screen. I chose this -- very wicked, evil-looking female character which appeared to be physically morphed with an ominous tree, thickly rooted into the ground.
The character's English display name was "Anata no Muchi" (あなたのむち). I know some Japanese, so I immediately recognized that this was an English romanization of a noun describing me. Basically, "anata no" can translate into the possessive "your [blank]", but I wasn't familiar with the term "muchi".
So I went online for a definition.
The result was a bit chilling and accurate upon seeing (as I cannot recall ever coming across this word in the entirety of my college Japanese studies).
Translated, it primarily means "your ignorance"; and can also mean "your god".
- Why did this demon take a masquerade form of my old boss?
To begin, such disguises from familiar spirits aren't random or arbitrary (Proverbs 26:2) -- as they're actually symbolic indicators pointing to their origin of entry. God allows this in order to provide the dreamer with a clue regarding their point of origin (Proverbs 25:2). Therefore, it is important to carefully analyze any negative (i.e. sinful) attributes associated with the person being masqueraded, so that you can discern the function of said spirit(s) appearing in your dream.
As for this case...I'm not proud to admit, but I had "no-called/no-showed" that job I was working at during that time, so perhaps the masquerade form of my old boss represented a spirit of shame, or guilt?
- Familiar Spirits: Malevolent Masqueraders
I Samuel 28:3-11
...(3)Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. (4)And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
(5)And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. (6)And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. (7)Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
(8)And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. (9)And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? (10)And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
(11)Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel...
...(1)Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices. (2)Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel. (3)And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee. (4)And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust...
II Corinthians 11:12-15
...(12)But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. (13)For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (14)And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (15)Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works...
- Why was the fighting game reminiscent of Mortal Kombat?
I do believe this was pointing to the spiritual law in Ephesians 6:12, "We wrestle not against flesh and blood...".
In other words, it's a literal "mortal combat" between us and Satan's forces in the spirit realm.
- Realities of Spiritual Warfare
...(10)Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (11)Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12)For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(13)Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (14)Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (15)And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (16)Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (17)And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God...
II Corinthians 10:3-6
...(3)For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4)(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (6)And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled...
- Why did the character selection screen feature that evil woman/tree entity?
I believe that tree portion of the evil spirit, with thick roots embedded into the ground, was a representation of one of my (at the time) longtime additions: video games (I had first started gaming at around 3-4 years old!). The "spiritual roots" of this, therefore, went quite deep.
As for the top half of the evil spirit being a woman...I'd say that would point it to being my "mistress", an idol that I was committing adultery with, as well as witchcraft.
- The Fruits are From the Roots
...(28)In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
(29)Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. (30)And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant...
...(33)Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. (34)O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (35)A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. (36)But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
(37)For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned...
I Timothy 6:6-10
...(6)But godliness with contentment is great gain. (7)For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (8)And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (9)But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (10)For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows...
- Rebellion and Witchcraft Go Hand-in-Hand
I Samuel 15:22-23
...(22)And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
(23)For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king...
...(1)Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not; (2)The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots. (3)The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses: (4)Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts...
- Why was her name "Anata no Muchi"?
This portion of the dream was a BIG "attention getter" for me -- especially when i looked up the English translation!
I also still have all of my Japanese language textbooks from college, and none of them contain the noun/na-adjective "muchi" anywhere. Therefore, I believe this was the Lord sending me a strong message here, in regards to gaming.
- God + Nothing
...(22)The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (23)But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (24)No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon...
...(10)He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (11)If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? (12)And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? (13)No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon...
- Admonishment and Standard for Studying Scripture
...(10)And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. (11)These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (12)Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few...
II Corinthians 13:1
...This the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established...
II Timothy 2:15-16
...(15)Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (16)But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness...
- The Holy Spirit Teaches Us All Things
...(22)Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? (23)Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (24)He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (25)These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. (26)But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you...
I Corinthians 2:10-14
...(10)But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (11)For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. (12)Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. (13)Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (14)But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned...
- God Gives Ability to Understand & Interpret Dreams
...(6)And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. (7)And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? (8)And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you...
...(13)And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. (14)And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. (15)And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. (16)And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. (17)And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do...
...(6)Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: (7)Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego...
...(17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams...
