Genesis 20:1-10
...
(1)And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. (2)And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

(3)But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou
art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. (4)But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? (5)Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. (6)And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

(7)Now therefore restore the man
his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

(8)Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. (9)Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

(10)And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

Genesis 28:10-19
...
(10)And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. (11)And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

(12)And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. (13)And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I
am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; (14)And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. (15)And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

(16)And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew
it not. (17)And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

(18)And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put
for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

(19)And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city
was called Luz at the first...

Genesis 31:3-32
...
(3)And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

(4)And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, (5)And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it
is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me. (6)And ye know that with all my power I have served your father. (7)And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. (8)If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked. (9)Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

(10)And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle
were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled. (11)And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I. (12)And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. (13)I am the God of Bethel, and where thou anointedst the pillar, where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

(14)And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him,
Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? (15)Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money. (16)For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

(17)Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels; (18)And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padanaram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

(19)And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that
were her father's.

(20)And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled. (21)So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face
toward the mount Gilead.

(22)And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. (23)And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead. (24)And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

(25)Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. (26)And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives
taken with the sword? (27)Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? (28)And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing. (29)It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. (30)And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

(31)And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me. (32)With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what
is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them...

Genesis 37:1-28
...
(1)And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

(2)These
are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

(3)Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he
was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. (4)And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

(5)And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told
it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

(6)And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: (7)For, behold, we
were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. (8)And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

(9)And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. (10)And he told
it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

(11)And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

(12)And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem. (13)And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed
the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I. (14)And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

(15)And a certain man found him, and, behold,
he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou? (16)And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks. (17)And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

(18)And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. (19)And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. (20)Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

(21)And Reuben heard
it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. (22)And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

(23)And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat,
his coat of many colours that was on him; (24)And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

(25)And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry
it down to Egypt. (26)And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit it is if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? (27)Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

(28)Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty
pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt...

Genesis 40:1-23
...
(1)And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. (2)And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. (3)And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

(4)And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

(5)And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which
were bound in the prison.

(6)And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they
were sad. (7)And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? (8)And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

(9)And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine
was before me; (10)And in the vine was three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: (11)And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

(12)And Joseph said unto him, This
is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days: (13)Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler. (14)But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: (15)For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

(16)When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also
was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head: (17)And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.

(18)And Joseph answered and said, This
is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days: (19)Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

(20)And it came to pass the third day,
which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. (21)And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand: (22)But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

(23)Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.

Genesis 41:1-38
(1)And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

(2)And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow. (3)And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the
other kine upon the brink of the river. (4)And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

(5)And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good. (6)And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them. (7)And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold,
it was a dream.

(8)And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but
there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

(9)Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: (10)Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house,
both me and the chief baker: (11)And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. (12)And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. (13)And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

(14)Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved
himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

(15)And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and
there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. (16)And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. (17)And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river: (18)And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow: (19)And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness: (20)And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine: (21)And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

(22)And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good: (23)And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin,
and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them: (24)And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

(25)And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he
is about to do.

(26)The seven good kine
are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. (27)And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine. (28)This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

(29)Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt: (30)And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land; (31)And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it
shalt be very grievous.

(32)And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice;
it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

(33)Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. (34)Let Pharaoh do
this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. (35)And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. (36)And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

(37)And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

(38)And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find
such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?...

Genesis 42:1-17
...
(1)Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? (2)And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

(3)And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt. (4)But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him. (5)And the sons of Israel came to buy
corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan. (6)And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

(7)And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

(8)And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. (9)And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye
are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. (10)And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. (11)We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

(12)And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. (13)And they said, Thy servants
are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. (14)And Joseph said unto them, That that is it I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies: (15)Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. (16)Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

(17)And he put them all together into ward three days.

Numbers 12:1-10
...
(1)And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.

(2)And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard
it.

(3)(Now the man Moses
was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) (4)And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

(5)And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. (6)And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you,
I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

(7)My servant Moses
is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. (8)With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

(9)And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. (10)And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam
became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous...

Deuteronomy 13:1-10
...
(1)If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, (2)And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; (3)Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (4)Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

(5)And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn
you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

(6)If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which
is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; (7)Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; (8)Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: (9)But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. (10)And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage...

Judges 7:7-21
...
(7)And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. (8)So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

(9)And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. (10)But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: (11)And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that
were in the host. (12)And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

(13)And when Gideon was come, behold,
there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. (14)And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

(15)And it was
so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. (16)And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. (17)And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

(18)When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that
are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

(19)So Gideon, and the hundred men that
were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. (20)And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

(21)And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

I Samuel 28:3-20
...
(3)Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. (4)And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.

(5)And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. (6)And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

(7)Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold,
there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

(8)And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me
him up, whom I shall name unto thee. (9)And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

(10)And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying,
As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

(11)Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

(12)And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou
art Saul. (13)And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. (14)And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

(15)And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

(16)Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? (17)And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour,
even to David: (18)Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

(19)Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow
shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

(20)Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

I Kings 3:1-16
...
(1)And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. (2)Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

(3)And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. (4)And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

(5)In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

(6)And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as
it is this day. (7)And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. (8)And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. (9)Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

(10)And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

(11)And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; (12)Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. (13)And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. (14)And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

(15)And Solomon awoke; and, behold,
it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

(16)Then came there two women,
that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him...

Job 7:7-21
...
(7)O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good. (8)The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I not. (9)As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. (10)He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

(11)Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

(12)
Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? (13)When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; (14)Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: (15)So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. (16)I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

(17)What
is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? (18)And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

(19)How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?

(20)I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? (21)And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I
shall not be...

Job 20:1-16
...
(1)Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said, (2)Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.

(3)I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer. (4)Knowest thou
not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, (5)That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? (6)Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds; (7)Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?

(8)He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night. (9)The eye also
which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him. (10)His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods. (11)His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust. (12)Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue; (13)Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth: (14)Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him. (15)He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

(16)He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

Job 33:6-22
...
(6)Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay. (7)Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee. (8)Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying (9)I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

(10)Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy, (11)He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

(12)Behold,
in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man. (13)Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters. (14)For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. (15)In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; (16)Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, (17)That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

(18)He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

(19)He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong
pain: (20)So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. (21)His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

(22)Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

Psalm 73:12-28
...
(12)Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. (13)Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. (14)For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. (15)If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. (16)When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; (17)Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. (18)Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. (19)How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. (20)As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image. (21)Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

(22)So foolish
was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. (23)Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. (24)Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

(25)Whom have I in heaven
but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. (26)My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. (27)For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.

it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works...

Ecclesiastes 5:1-12
...
(1)Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. (2)Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. (3)For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

(4)When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for
he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. (5)Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. (6)Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?

(7)For in the multitude of dreams and many words
there are also diverse vanities: but fear thou God.

(8)If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for
he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they. (9)Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.

(10)He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this
is also vanity. (11)When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?

(12)The sleep of a labouring man
is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep...

(2)Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel. (3)And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee. (4)And thou shalt be brought down,
and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

(5)Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones
shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly. (6)Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

(7)And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. (8)It shall even be as when an hungry
man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

(9)Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. (10)For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

(11)And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which

(19)Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. (20)The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

(21)I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

(22)But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

(23)
Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? (24)Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

(25)I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. (26)How long shall
this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; (27)Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. (28)The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.

(29)
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

(30)Therefore, behold, I
am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. (31)Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. (32)Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. (33)And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD. (34)And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.

(35)Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken? (36)And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.

Jeremiah 27:1-11

(1)In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, (2)Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, (3)And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; (4)And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; (5)I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

(6)And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. (7)And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.

(8)And it shall come to pass, the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. (9)Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: (10)For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

(11)But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

Jeremiah 29:1-14

(1)Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon; (2)(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;) (3)By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying, (4)Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; (5)Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; (6)Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

(7)And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

(8)For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that
be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed. (9)For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

(10)For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. (11)For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (12)Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. (13)And ye shall seek me, and find
me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (14)And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive...

Daniel 1:1-7; 17-21
...
(1)In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it. (2)And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

(3)And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring
certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; (4)Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

(5)And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

(6)Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: (7)Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel
the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego...

...
(17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

(18)Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. (19)And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. (20)And in all matters of wisdom
and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

even unto the first year of king Cyrus...

Daniel 2:1-49
...
(1)And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

(2)Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. (3)And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

(4)Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

(5)The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. (6)But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

(7)They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

(8)The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. (9)But if ye will not make known unto me the dream,
there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

(10)The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore
there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. (11)And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

(12)For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise
men of Babylon. (13)And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

(14)Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise
men of Babylon: (15)He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel. (16)Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

(17)Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: (18)That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise
men of Babylon.

(19)Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

(20)Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: (21)And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: (22)He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what
is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

(23)I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast
now made known unto us the king's matter.

(24)Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise
men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

(25)Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

(26)The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name
was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

(27)Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise
men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; (28)But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; (29)As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

(30)But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for
any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

(31)Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness
was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. (32)This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, (33)His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. (34)Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. (35)Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

(36)This
is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. (37)Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. (38)And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

(39)And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

(40)And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all
things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. (41)And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. (42)And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. (43)And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

(44)And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people,
but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. (45)Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

(46)Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. (47)The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth
it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

(48)Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise
men of Babylon. (49)Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king...

Daniel 4:1-27
...
(1)Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. (2)I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me. (3)How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

(4)I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace: (5)I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. (6)Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise
men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream. (7)Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof. (8)But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying, (9)O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.

(10)Thus
were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof great. (11)The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth: (12)The leaves thereof fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.

(13)I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven; (14)He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches: (15)Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and
let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth: (16)Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.

(17)This matter
is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

(18)This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise
men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.

(19)Then Daniel, whose name
was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

(20)The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth; (21)Whose leaves
were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation: (22)It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

(23)And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and
let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;

(24)This
is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

(25)That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. (26)And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.

(27)Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Daniel 5:1-17
...
(1)Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

(2)Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which
was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. (3)Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. (4)They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

(5)In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

(6)Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another. (7)The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers.
And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

(8)Then came in all the king's wise
men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof. (9)Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.

(10)
Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed: (11)There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; (12)Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

(13)Then was Daniel brought in before the king.
And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry? (14)I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. (15)And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing: (16)And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

(17)Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

Daniel 7:1-18
...
(1)In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. (2)Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. (3)And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

(4)The first
was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

(5)And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and
it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

(6)After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

(7)After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it
was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. (8)I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

(9)I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment
was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. (10)A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

(11)I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld
even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. (12)As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

(13)I saw in the night visions, and, behold,
one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14)And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

(15)I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of
my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. (16)I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

(17)These great beasts, which are four,
are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. (18)But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever...

Joel 2:1-2; 21-32
...
(1)Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; (2)A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations...

...
(21)Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

(22)Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. (23)Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first
month.

(24)And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. (25)And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. (26)And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

(27)And ye shall know that I
am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. (28)And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: (29)And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

(30)And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

(31)The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. (32)And it shall come to pass,
that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call...

Zechariah 10:1-10
...
(1)Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. (2)For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.

(3)Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle. (4)Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.

(5)And they shall be as mighty
men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded. (6)And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them. (7)And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD. (8)I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased. (9)And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again. (10)I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them...

Matthew 1:17-25
...
(17)So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

(18)Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. (19)Then Joseph her husband, being a just
man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. (20)But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

(21)And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

(22)Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, (23)Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

(24)Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: (25)And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Matthew 2:1-23
(1)Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, (2)Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (3)When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. (4)And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

(5)And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, (6)And thou Bethlehem,
in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

(7)Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. (8)And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found
him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. (9)When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. (10)When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. (11)And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. (12)And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

(13)And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. (14)When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: (15)And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

(16)Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. (17)Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, (18)In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping
for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

(19)But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, (20)Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. (21)And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. (22)But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:

(23)And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Matthew 27:11-26
...
(11)And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest. (12)And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. (13)Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

(14)And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

(15)Now at
that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would. (16)And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. (17)Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? (18)For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. (19)When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

(20)But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

(21)The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. (22)Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?
They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. (23)And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. (24)When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. (25)Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

(26)Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered
him to be crucified...

Acts 2:1-21
...
(1)And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2)And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

(3)And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4)And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

(5)And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. (6)Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. (7)And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? (8)And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? (9)Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, (10)Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, (11)Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. (12)And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

(13)Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

(14)But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all
ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: (15)For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is the third hour of the day. (16)But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; (17)And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (18)And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: (19)And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: (20)The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: (21)And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved...

(1)Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: (2)Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

(3)Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort
you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (4)For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

(5)I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. (6)And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. (7)Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (8)Likewise also these
filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. (9)Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. (10)But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. (11)Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. (12)These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; (13)Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever...

Dreams And Their Understanding - Part 1
(Kevin Ewing)

Recommended introductory teaching for
dream interpretation.

Key points: Dreams are "spiritual monitors", or types of feedback, in regards to one's daily life, which can show the spiritual roots behind one's problem(s).  And God's Word provides all the needed interpretation for them.
