(1)And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (2)Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, (3)What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth it an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth out of the camp, (4)And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: (5)To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD. (6)And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

(7)And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

(8)And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man
there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice, (9)And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people...

...(26)Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times. (27)Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. (28)Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

(29)Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness. (30)Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I
am the LORD.

(31)Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I
am the LORD your God.

(32)Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I
am the LORD...

(1)And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (2)Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. (3)And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. (4)And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: (5)Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

(6)And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

(7)Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I
am the LORD your God...

...
(25)Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. (26)And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

(27)A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood
shall be upon them...

(9)When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. (10)There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, (11)Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (12)For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

(9)For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

(10)He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. (11)As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: (12)
So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. (13)He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; (14)Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

(15)But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered
with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. (16)They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. (17)They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

...(1)And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother's brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying, (2)Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

(3)And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He
is our brother. (4)And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him. (5)And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself. (6)And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem...

...
(22)When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel, (23)Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech: (24)That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

(25)And the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech. (26)And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem: and the men of Shechem put their confidence in him. (27)And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and trode
the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech. (28)And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him? (29)And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out...

...(4)And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? (5)And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. (6)And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him. (7)But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

(8)Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this. (9)Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this. (10)Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these. (11)And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all
thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. (12)And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. (13)Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

(14)But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

(15)And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. (16)Let our lord now command thy servants,
which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. (17)And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

(18)Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite,
that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. (19)Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep. (20)And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul. (21)And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer. (22)And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight. (23)And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him...

...(5)And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants. (6)And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. (7)And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. (8)And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

(9)And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. (10)And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and
there was a javelin in Saul's hand. (11)And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

(12)And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul. (13)Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. (14)And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD
was with him. (15)Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him. (16)But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them...

...(8)And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him. (9)And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. (10)And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

(11)Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain. (12)So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped. (13)And Michal took an image, and laid
it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth. (14)And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick. (15)And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him. (16)And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

(17)And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

...(3)Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. (4)And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa. (5)And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. (6)And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

(7)Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold,
there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

(8)And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me
him up, whom I shall name unto thee. (9)And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? (10)And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

(11)Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

(12)And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou
art Saul. (13)And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. (14)And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

(15)And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. (16)Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? (17)And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour,
even to David: (18)Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day. (19)Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

(20)Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night..

...(6)Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

(7)And Jehoshaphat said,
Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him? (8)And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. (9)Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

(10)And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them. (11)And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them. (12)And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver
it into the king's hand. (13)And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

(14)And Micaiah said,
As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

(15)So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver
it into the hand of the king. (16)And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? (17)And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

(18)And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? (19)And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. (20)And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. (21)And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. (22)And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade
him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

(23)Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

(24)But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? (25)And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself. (26)And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son; (27)And say, Thus saith the king, Put this
fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

(28)And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you. (29)So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.

(2)And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel. (3)For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. (4)And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name. (5)And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

(6)And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke
him to anger. (7)And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: (8)Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them. (9)But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

(10)And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying, (11)Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations,
and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols: (12)Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle...

...
(24)Moreover the familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

(25)And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there
any like him.

(26)Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal. (27)And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

...(1)Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa. (2)And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.

(3)And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers. (4)Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. (5)And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.

(6)So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

(7)And when all the men of Israel that
were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them. (8)And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa. (9)And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people. (10)And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon. (11)And when all Jabeshgilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul, (12)They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

(13)So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD,
even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking council of a familiar spirit, to inquire of it; (14)And inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse...

...(5)And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah. (6)He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa, (7)And Bethzur, and Shoco, and Adullam, (8)And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph, (9)And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah, (10)And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities. (11)And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine. (12)And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.  (13)And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts. (14)For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD: (15)And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.

(16)And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

(17)So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon..

...(1)Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab. (2)And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead. (3)And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.

(4)And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

(5)Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver
it into the king's hand. (6)But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him? (7)And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. (8)And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla. (9)And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them. (10)And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed. (11)And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

(12)And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets
declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.

(13)And Micaiah said,
As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.

(14)And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand. (15)And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD? (16)Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return
therefore every man to his house in peace.

(17)And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee
that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil? (18)Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left. (19)And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. (20)Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? (21)And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.

(22)Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

(23)Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? (24)And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself. (25)Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son; (26)And say, Thus saith the king, Put this
fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

(27)And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace,
then hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people. (28)So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.

(29)And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle. (30)Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that
were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel. (31)And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him. (32)For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him. (33)And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

(34)And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed
himself up in him chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died...

...(1)Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: (2)But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

(3)For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. (4)Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever. (5)And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. (6)And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. (7)And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever: (8)Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

(9)So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err,
and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel. (10)And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken. (11)Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

(12)And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, (13)And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he
was God...

...(14)For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. (15)In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; (16)Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, (17)That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

(18)He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. (19)He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong

(23)If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: (24)Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. ...(30)Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. (31)And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

(32)They angered
him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: (33)Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. ...(1)And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

(2)Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying, (3)Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to inquire of me?
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you. (4)Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: (5)And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God; (6)In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: (7)Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

(8)But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. (9)But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they
were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. (10)Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. (11)And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. (12)Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. (13)But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. (14)But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. (15)Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; (16)Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

(17)Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. (18)But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: (19)I
am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; (20)And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

(21)Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which
if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. (22)Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. (23)I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; (24)Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. (25)Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; (26)And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

(27)Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. (28)
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings. (29)Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. (30)Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations? (31)For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you. (32)And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: (34)And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. (35)And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. (36)Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. (37)And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: (38)And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

(39)As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter
also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. (40)For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. (41)I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. (42)And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers. (43)And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. (44)And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

(45)Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (46)Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop
thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; (47)And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

(48)And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

(49)Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?...

...(1)In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

(2)In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. (3)I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. (4)And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which
is Hiddekel; (5)Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: (6)His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

(7)And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. (8)Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. (9)Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

(10)And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and
upon the palms of my hands. (11)And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. (12)Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. (13)But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

(14)Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision
is for many days.

(15)And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. (16)And, behold,
one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. (17)For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. (18)Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, (19)And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. (20)Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

(21)But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and
there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince...

...(1)Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

(2)By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. (3)Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. (4)Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people
are as they that strive with the priest. (5)Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

(6)My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. (7)As they were increased, so they sinned against me:
therefore will I change their glory into shame. (8)They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. (9)And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. (10)For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. (11)Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

(12)My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused
them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. (13)They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

(14)I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people
that doth not understand shall fall. (15)Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth. (16)For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

(17)Ephraim
is joined to idols: let him alone. (18)Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye. (19)The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices...

...(1)Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor. (2)And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I have been a rebuker of them all.

(3)I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom,
and Israel is defiled. (4)They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD. (5)And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them. (6)They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them. (7)They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

(8)Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah,

(10)The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water. (11)Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment. (12)Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. (13)When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound. ...(1)In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. (2)And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

(3)And it shall come to pass,
that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. ...(17)From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (18)And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

...(21)Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22)Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ...(1)And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

(5)These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into

(16)But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, (17)And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. ...(14)And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, (15)Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. (16)And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

(17)Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. (18)And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. (19)Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? (20)And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

...(23)Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. (24)And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. (25)But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. (26)The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

(27)Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

(28)But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took
him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. (29)And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. (30)And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. (31)So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

(32)Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: (33)Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? (34)And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

(35)So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

...(31)When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (32)And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: (33)And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. ...(21)And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. (22)And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. (23)And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, (24)Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? (28)And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

(29)And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. (30)But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. ...(7)But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, (8)And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him. (9)And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

(10)For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. (11)And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. (12)And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

(13)And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth

(14)And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, (15)And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: (16)And Simon he surnamed Peter; (17)And James the
son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: (18)And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite, (19)And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

(20)And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. (21)And when his friends heard
of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. (22)And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. ...(1)And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

(2)And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, (3)Who had

(5)And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. (8)For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

(18)And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. (19)Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. (20)And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all did marvel.

...(18)And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. (19)And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? (20)When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? (21)And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. (22)Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

(31)And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? (32)They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. (33)For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. (34)The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! (35)But wisdom is justified of all her children...

...(1)And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, (2)And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, (3)And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

(4)And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: (5)A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. (6)And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. (7)And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. (8)And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (9)And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? (10)And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

(11)Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (12)Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. (13)They on the rock
are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. (14)And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (15)But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience...

...
(22)Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. (23)But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. (24)And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. (25)And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

(26)And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. (27)And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in
any house, but in the tombs. (28)When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (29)(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) (30)And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. (31)And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

(32)And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. (33)Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. (34)When they that fed
them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country. (35)Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. (36)They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. (37)Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

(38)Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, (39)Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

...(1)Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. (2)And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. (3)And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. (4)And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. (5)And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

(6)And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

(37)And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. (38)And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. (39)And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. (40)And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

(41)And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. (42)And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare
him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. (43)And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, (44)Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. (45)But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

(46)Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. (47)And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, (48)And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. (49)And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. (50)And Jesus said unto him, Forbid

...(9)And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (10)For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (13)If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

(14)And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. (15)But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. (16)And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. ...(10)And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. (11)And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. (14)And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

(15)The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? (16)And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? ...(52)The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

(53)Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. (54)Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (55)For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. (56)He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. (57)As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ...(18)No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

...(12)And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. (13)And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. (14)And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) (15)Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. (16)There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

(17)Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, (18)And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. (19)But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, (20)Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. (22)But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told, (23)Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

...(5)Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. (6)And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. (7)For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. (8)And there was great joy in that city. (9)But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: (10)To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. (11)And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. (12)But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. (13)Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done...

...(11)Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis; (12)And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days. (13)And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

(14)And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. (15)And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.  (16)And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: (17)The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. (18)And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

(19)And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, (20)And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, (21)And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. (22)And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. (23)And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: (24)Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks...

...(8)And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. (9)But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. (10)And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. (11)And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: (12)So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

(13)Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. (14)And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. (15)And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? (16)And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. (17)And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. (18)And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. (19)Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

(14)Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. (15)I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. (16)The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (17)For we
being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (18)Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? (19)What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? (20)But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. (21)Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

...(1)It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

(2)I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. (3)And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) (4)How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. (5)Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. (6)For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but
now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

(7)And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (8)For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (9)And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10)Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

...(1)Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, (2)To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

(3)I thank God, whom I serve from
my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; (4)Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; (5)When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. (7)For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

(8)Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; (9)Who hath saved us, and called
us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (10)But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: (11)Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. ...(14)What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? (15)If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, (16)And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? (17)Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (18)Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (19)Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

(20)But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (21)Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22)Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (23)And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. (24)Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. (25)Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent
them out another way?

(26)For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

...(1)And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. (2)And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

(3)And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. (4)And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. (5)And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment
was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

(6)And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (7)And the shapes of the locusts
were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces as the faces of men. (8)And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. (9)And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. (10)And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power to hurt men five months.

(11)And they had a king over them,
which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

(12)One woe is past;
and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

(13)And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, (14)Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. (15)And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

(16)And the number of the army of the horsemen
were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. (17)And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. (18)By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. (19)For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

(20)And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: (21)Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

(9)And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (10)And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. (11)And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time...

II. EARLY CHURCH WRITINGS
Picture
Justin Martyr "Second Apology" (153 A.D.) Chapter 8: All have been hated in whom the Word has dwelt

And those of the Stoic school— since, so far as their moral teaching went, they were admirable, as were also the poets in some particulars, on account of the seed of reason [the Logos] implanted in every race of men— were, we know, hated and put to death—Heraclitus for instance, and, among those of our own time, Musonius and others. For, as we intimated, the devils have always effected, that all those who anyhow live a reasonable and earnest life, and shun vice, be hated. And it is nothing wonderful; if the devils are proved to cause those to be much worse hated who live not according to a part only of the word diffused [among men] but by the knowledge and contemplation of the whole Word, which is Christ. And they, having been shut up in eternal fire, shall suffer their just punishment and penalty. For if they are even now overthrown by men through the name of Jesus Christ, this is an intimation of the punishment in eternal fire which is to be inflicted on themselves and those who serve them. For thus did both all the prophets foretell, and our own teacher Jesus teach.
Picture
Irenaeus, "Against Heresies" (190 A.D.) Book II, Chapter 32: Further exposure of the wicked and blasphemous doctrines of the heretics

If, however, they maintain that the Lord, too, performed such works simply in appearance, we shall refer them to the prophetical writings, and prove from these both that all things were thus predicted regarding Him, and did take place undoubtedly, and that He is the only Son of God. Wherefore, also, those who are in truth His disciples, receiving grace from Him, do in His name perform [miracles], so as to promote the welfare of other men, according to the gift which each one has received from Him. For some do certainly and truly drive out devils, so that those who have thus been cleansed from evil spirits frequently both believe [in Christ], and join themselves to the Church. Others have foreknowledge of things to come: they see visions, and utter prophetic expressions. Others still, heal the sick by laying their hands upon them, and they are made whole. Yea, moreover, as I have said, the dead even have been raised up, and remained among us for many years. And what shall I more say? It is not possible to name the number of the gifts which the Church, [scattered] throughout the whole world, has received from God, in the name of Jesus Christ, who was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and which she exerts day by day for the benefit of the Gentiles, neither practising deception upon any, nor taking any reward Acts 8:9, 18 from them [on account of such miraculous interpositions]. For as she has received freely Matthew 10:8 from God, freely also does she minister [to others].
Picture
Tertullian "The Apology" (197-220 A.D.) Chapter 23

...Moreover, if sorcerers call forth ghosts, and even make what seem the souls of the dead to appear; if they put boys to death, in order to get a response from the oracle; if, with their juggling illusions, they make a pretence of doing various miracles; if they put dreams into people's minds by the power of the angels and demons whose aid they have invited, by whose influence, too, goats and tables are made to divine,--how much more likely is this power of evil to be zealous in doing with all its might, of its own inclination, and for its own objects, what it does to serve the ends of others! Or if both angels and demons do just what your gods do, where in that case is the pre-eminence of deity, which we must surely think to be above all in might? Will it not then be more reasonable to hold that these spirits make themselves gods, giving as they do the very proofs which raise your gods to godhead, than that the gods are the equals of angels and demons? You make a distinction of places, I suppose, regarding as gods in their temple those whose divinity you do not recognize elsewhere; counting the madness which leads one man to leap from the sacred houses, to be something different from that which leads another to leap from an adjoining house; looking on one who cuts his arms and secret pans as under a different furor from another who cuts his throat. The result of the frenzy is the same, and the manner of instigation is one.

But thus far we have been dealing only in words: we now proceed to a proof of facts, in which we shall show that under different names you have real identity. Let a person be brought before your tribunals, who is plainly under demoniacal possession. The wicked spirit, bidden to speak by a follower of Christ, will as readily make the truthful confession that he is a demon, as elsewhere he has falsely asserted that he is a god. Or, if you will, let there be produced one of the god-possessed, as they are supposed, who, inhaling at the altar, conceive divinity from the fumes, who are delivered of it by retching, who vent it forth in agonies of gasping. Let that same Virgin Caelestis herself the rain-promiser, let Aesculapius discoverer of medicines, ready to prolong the life of Socordius, and Tenatius, and Asclepiodotus, now in the last extremity, if they would not confess, in their fear of lying to a Christian, that they were demons, then and there shed the blood of that most impudent follower of Christ. What clearer than a work like that? what more trustworthy than such a proof? The simplicity of truth is thus set forth; its own worth sustains it; no ground remains for the least suspicion. Do you say that it is done by magic, or some trick of that sort? You will not say anything of the sort, if you have been allowed the use of your ears and eyes. For what argument can you bring against a thing that is exhibited to the eye in its naked reality? If, on the one hand, they are really gods, why do they pretend to be demons? Is it from fear of us? In that case your divinity is put in subjection to Christians; and you surely can never ascribe deity to that which is under authority of man, nay (if it adds aught to the disgrace) of its very enemies. If, on the other hand, they are demons or angels, why, inconsistently with this, do
they presume to set themselves forth as acting the pan of gods? For as beings who put themselves out as gods would never willingly call themselves demons, if they were gods indeed, that they might not thereby in fact abdicate their dignity; so those whom you know to be no more than demons, would not dare to act as gods, if those whose names they take and use were really divine. For they would not dare to treat with disrespect the higher majesty of beings, whose displeasure they would feel was to be dreaded...

...Mock as you like, but get the demons if you can to join you in your mocking; let them deny that Christ is coming to judge every human soul which has existed from the world's beginning, clothing it again with the body it laid aside at death; let them declare it, say, before your tribunal, that this work has been allotted to Minos and Rhadamanthus, as Plato and the poets agree; let them put away from them at least the mark of ignominy and condemnation. They disclaim being unclean spirits, which yet we must hold as indubitably proved by their relish for the blood and fumes and foetid carcasses of sacrificial animals, and even by the vile language of their ministers. Let them deny that, for their wickedness condemned already, they are kept for that very judgment-day, with all their worshippers and their works. Why, all the authority and power we have over them is from our naming the name of Christ, and recalling to their memory the woes with which God threatens them at the hands of Christ as Judge, and which they expect one day to overtake them. Fearing Christ in God, and God in Christ, they become subject to the servants of God and Christ. So at our touch and breathing, overwhelmed by the thought and realization of those judgment fires, they leave at our command the bodies they have entered, unwilling, and distressed, and before your very eyes put to an open shame. You believe them when they lie; give credit to them, then, when they speak the truth about themselves. No one plays the liar to bring disgrace upon his own head, but for the sake of honour rather. You give a readier confidence to people making confessions against themselves, than denials in their own behalf. It has not been an unusual thing, accordingly, for those testimonies of your deities to convert men to Christianity; for in giving full belief to them, we are led to believe in Christ.

Yes, your very gods kindle up faith in our Scriptures, they build up the confidence of our hope. You do homage, as I
know, to them also with the blood of Christians. On no account, then, would they lose those who are so useful and dutiful to them, anxious even to hold you fast, lest some day or other as Christians you might put them to the rout,--if under the power of a follower of Christ, who desires to prove to you the Truth, it were at all possible for them to lie...

Origen, "Contra Celsus" (248 A.D.) Book I, Chapter 46

For the law and the prophets are full of marvels similar to those recorded of Jesus at His baptism, viz., regarding the dove and the voice from heaven. And I think the wonders wrought by Jesus are a proof of the Holy Spirit's having then appeared in the form of a dove, although Celsus, from a desire to cast discredit upon them, alleges that He performed only what He had learned among the Egyptians. And I shall refer not only to His miracles, but, as is proper, to those also of the apostles of Jesus. For they could not without the help of miracles and wonders have prevailed on those who heard their new doctrines and new teachings to abandon their national usages, and to accept their instructions at the danger to themselves even of death. And there are still preserved among Christians traces of that Holy Spirit which appeared in the form of a dove. They expel evil spirits, and perform many cures, and foresee certain events, according to the will of the Logos. And although Celsus, or the Jew whom he has introduced, may treat with mockery what I am going to say, I shall say it nevertheless—that many have been converted to Christianity as if against their will, some sort of spirit having suddenly transformed their minds from a hatred of the doctrine to a readiness to die in its defence, and having appeared to them either in a waking vision or a dream of the night. Many such instances have we known, which, if we were to commit to writing, although they were seen and witnessed by ourselves, we should afford great occasion for ridicule to unbelievers, who would imagine that we, like those whom they suppose to have invented such things, had ourselves also done the same. But God is witness of our conscientious desire, not by false statements, but by testimonies of different kinds, to establish the divinity of the doctrine of Jesus. And as it is a Jew who is perplexed about the account of the Holy Spirit having descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, we would say to him, Sir, who is it that says in Isaiah, 'And now the Lord has sent me and His Spirit.' In which sentence, as the meaning is doubtful— viz., whether the Father and the Holy Spirit sent Jesus, or the Father sent both Christ and the Holy Spirit— the latter is correct. For, because the Saviour was sent, afterwards the Holy Spirit was sent also, that the prediction of the prophet might be fulfilled; and as it was necessary that the fulfilment of the prophecy should be known to posterity, the disciples of Jesus for that reason committed the result to writing.

Lactantius, "The Divine Institutes" (303-311 A.D.) Book V, Chapter 22: Of the Rage of the Demons Against Christians, and the Error of Unbelievers

They do not therefore rage against us on this account, because their gods are not worshipped by us, but because the truth is on our side, which (as it has been said most truly) produces hatred. What, then, shall we think, but that they are ignorant of what they suffer? For they act with a blind and unreasonable fury, which we see, but of which they are ignorant. For it is not the men themselves who persecute, for they have no cause of anger against the innocent; but those contaminated and abandoned spirits by whom the truth is both known and hated insinuate themselves into their minds, and goad them in their ignorance to fury. For these, as long as there is peace among the people of God, flee from the righteous, and fear them; and when they seize upon the bodies of men, and harass their souls, they are adjured by them, and at the name of the true God are put to flight. For when they hear this name they tremble, cry out, and assert that they are branded and beaten; and being asked who they are, whence they have come, and how they have insinuated themselves into a man, confess it. Thus, being tortured and excruciated by the power of the divine name, they come out of the man. On account of these blows and threats, they always hate holy and just men; and because they are unable of themselves to injure them, they pursue with public hatred those whom they perceive to be grievous to them, and they exercise cruelty, with all the violence which they can employ, that they may either weaken their faith by pain, or, if they are unable to effect that, may take them away altogether from the earth, that there may be none to restrain their wickedness. It does not escape my notice what reply can be made on the other side...

III A. SUPPORT TESTIMONIES: DEVILS (GENERAL INFO)
Picture
Boshold, Frank S. (1970). Blumhardt's Battle A Conflict with Satan (p.4-5) Thomas E. Lowe LTD. Publishers, New York

...When a person goes through an affection, a fad, or a hobby, he usually tires of it after a while and goes on to something else.  He is not held in the fad's power.  But with those who have entered into supernatural experiences, it is quite different.  The drug faddists and all those who dabble in spiritism or demon religion come permanently under the influence and power of something they cannot throw off at will or even control.  Depending upon the degree of their involvement with the spirit world, their behavior is no longer under their own control but dictated by unseen forces which have gained a claim upon that person.  Because of the nature of the involvement in the false supernatural, those who are ensnared do not know how to become free again.

For example, a demonic book invites the reader to conjure up a demon of lust in order to be possessed by it and to experience more intense passions.  The reader does so, following the magic formula, and thereupon is seized by uncontrollable lust.  Whereas before he had his passion reasonably under control, this is no longer true and he is a victim of one or several evil spirits working in him.  Likewise when someone handles a pendulum, a ouijaboard, or some other spiritistic instrument, he comes under the influence of evil spirits which gain access to his body and thereby control the use of the instrument.  The user becomes the victim of one or a number of demons which take possession of any number of the faculties of the body and use them for their own purposes.

After possession by an evil spirit, the person begins to change in his behavior, his feelings, his standards, his desires.  Beside that, the victim invariably experiences attacks of fear, depression, melancholy, temptations of suicide and is moved at times by inexplicable anger, resentment, hatred, or urges to destroy.  Also a particular kind of virulence and animosity against the Bible and the people of God becomes manifest.

Neither therapy nor drugs nor changes in environment help those possessed by evil spirits, and since they turn away from God and His Gospel in Jesus Christ, the only way of deliverance, there is not hope of freedom from the dark power of satan, unless the victim seeks help from God.

It is already obvious that the flood of supernaturalism in America is beyond the control of the government and its agencies, institutions and organized churches.  But what we see around us today is only the beginning of what is to come.  It is always the design of satan and his demons to gain entrance into men and they will do so in whatever degree they can.  But once having gained a foothold, a landslide begins.  The petty thief turns into a hold-up man and finally a killer.  The marijuana or LSD user eventually turns to heroin or methedrine.  The dabbler in spiritism becomes more and more possessed by evil spirits...

Chapter 1 - A Biblical Survey of Satanic Deception

HOW THE EVIL SPIRITS DECEIVE BY "DOCTRINES"

How the evil spirits as teachers get men to receive their teachings, may be summed up in three specific ways: (1) By giving their doctrines, or teachings, as spiritual revelations, to those who accept everything supernatural as Divine because supernatural -- a certain class unaccustomed to the spiritual realm, acceptable that all is "supernatural" as from God.  This form of "teaching" is direct to the person; in "flashes" of light on a text, "revelations" by visions of Christ, or streams of texts apparently from the Holy Spirit.  (2) By mixing their "teachings" with the man's own reasonings, so that he thinks he has come to his own conclusions.  The teachings of the deceiving spirits in this form are so natural in appearance, that they seem to come from the man himself, as the fruit of his own mind, and reasoning.  They counterfeit the working of the human brain, and inject thoughts and suggestions into the human mind; for they can directly communicate with the mind, apart from gaining possession (in any degree) of the mind or body.

Those who are thus deceived, believe that they have come to their own conclusions, by their own reasonings, ignorant that the deceiving spirits have incited them to "reason" without sufficient data, or on a wrong premise, and thus come to false conclusions.  The teaching spirit has achieved his own end by putting a lie in the man's mind through the instrumentality of a false reasoning.

(3) By the indirect means of deceived human teachers, supposed to be conveying undiluted Divine "truth," and implicitly believed because of a godly life and character, believers saying, "He is a good man, and a holy man, and I believe him."  The life of the man is taken as a sufficient guarantee for his teaching, instead of judging the "teaching" by the Scriptures, apart from his personal character.  This has its foundation in the prevalent idea that everything that Satan and his evil spirits do is manifestly evil, the truth not being realized that they work under cover of light (2 Cor. xi. 14), i.e., if they can get a "good man" to accept some idea from them, and pass it on as "truth," he is a better instrument for deceptive purposes than a bad man who would not be believed.

Dream Warfare Journal Blog: When God's Word "Got Real"

Fall 2013 (daytime)

As I recall, this was the first lucid-state dream that I had where I was in direct confrontation with a demonic spirit -- whom was compelled to confess its identity to me, by my using the name of Jesus Christ (I John 4:1).

I believe I was taking a nap in my room, when I had found myself, in a lucid state, in what appeared to be an exact copy of my room.  As I came completely to and looked toward the end of my room at my window, I then saw standing in front of me a distorted form of a woman that I had known back in high school (whom I suspect has practiced witchcraft, in the past).

The distortion was a rail-thin, unnaturally skinny form of this person; almost comical, but with an element of fear due to the lucid-state nature of the encounter.

I was beginning to seriously study deliverance ministry at this time, so I approached this being and asked "In the name of Jesus, are you a demon?".

"Yes" was its immediate response, as I soon after awoke

INTERPRETATION

- I believe that this encounter was overseen by God in order to introduce me to His authority in exposing the true nature of evil spirits (I John 4:1-3).  Now, obviously, an evil spirit taking the form of a literal pitchfork-wielding demon would not be very hard to discern.  However -- by and large, demons take deceptive forms (II Corinthians 11:15); and will only truly be exposed with the name above all names: the Lord Jesus Christ.

What Mental Abilities Do Demons Have? Use Your Words Because Demons Can't Read Your Mind

...Many times, we as Christians pray in our mind, God hears our prayers, answers them, etc.

So why doesn’t it work with demons?

Simple, demons and for that fact angels both fallen and heavenly can’t read our minds. They are not capable.
So, the next question that usually follows is “Then how did they know what I was thinking?”

As humorous as it sounds, they (the demons) made a really good guess.

What we forget is that demons are beings that are thousands of years old. They have been studying us humans now for a very long time and they have great memories. See, they are really good at reading our body language, knowing our past in depth, knowing our habits, character, even the buttons that they can push to help cause us to sin.  They play us like a fine violin in the hands of maestro.

I mean think about it for a moment. They see us when other people don’t or can’t. They watch what we watch on TV. They see us eat, drink, go to the bathroom. They know all our physical responses and they know what we do when we are alone and by ourselves.

They are masters at observing us as humans and if you have a demon that has been following you around for a long time, they get to know you really well...

An Interview with Mahesh Chavda (New Wine; April, 1981). Binding the Strong Man

How Satan works

Satan has placed certain delegated angels over certain geographical areas and over certain kinds of activities such as photography, abortion, and numerous other areas. New Wine once referred to a vision in which a certain area of Nevada was seen to be under a spirit of divorce, and in New Orleans a spirit of witchcraft hung over the city. There are delegated rulers over certain areas who exercise an influence which is very noticeable.

Fortunately, God has given the Church the authority to fight against these powers.

I believe that today God is revealing just how dependent we are on one another, and that only as Christians become united will we be able to confront and defeat these powers...

...But we won’t take those territories without first battling and conquering the principalities and powers of darkness that currently rule those areas – "binding the strong man" as it says in Scripture.

To accomplish that, men of God in every nation, state and city need to unite in prayer and intercession against these powers. There is value in individual intercession, but in these last days the Holy Spirit is urgently requiring us to be united in our intercession. Men or God who are under proper authority, when united in prayer with other elders, have a much greater chance of success in pulling down Satan's strongholds.

CHAPTER SEVEN THE KEY TO REVIVAL: SPIRITUAL WARFARE

BINDING UP THE STRONGMEN

...We cannot set the captives free until we bind the strongmen over them.  Many unbelievers will not accept the gospel until we take the blinders off them by binding up the spirits that are blinding them.

...Other prophets and evangelists, such as Ed Silvoso and Cindy Jacobs, advocate a similar process.  They will send teams of intercessors who spend weeks fasting and praying against and binding up the strongmen over a city.  Once the strongmen are bound, the teams then go in and evangelize the area with great success and with virtually no spiritual interference.

People often ask South Korean pastor David Yonggi Cho how his humble house church movement exploded into the largest church in the world.  His answer has always been the same:  "We bound up all of the strongmen over South Korea."...

Part II. Chapter 9: Jesus Cleans His Church

HIGHWAY TO FREEDOM

...In Africa, when a person gets saved, we take them away for deliverance.  We immediately work to destroy their past.  We labor to deliver them from the devils that have guided their lives for years.

It has been my experience that once demons gain entrance to a human body, they are able to establish various strongholds.  They are invited into a person but they must be kicked out.  To illustrate, a demonic stronghold could be called a spirit of infirmity.  This could cause such a victim to be constantly sick and eventually become terminally or drastically ill with many ailments.  Another stronghold could cause spirits such as, unforgiveness, rebellion, fear, (these names usually correspond to their functions of jobs) to operate in the same person.  The chain of command controls all strongholds and demons can act inside a person's body.  These are called ruling spirits.  The minister must bind the strongman.

If the minister should fail to do so, then the demons that are being cast out will draw strength and reinforcement from the strongman that resides in the person.  However, all the strongholds ultimately take their orders from the strongman (Principalities) in the heavens.  A deliverance minister must destroy the stronghold (Principalities) by binding (tying up or not permitting) the power of the strongman.  The minister must cut and cast off all cords between the strongman and the spirits that reside inside the person.  Then the minister should continue the deliverance.  If the minster fails to cut these cords that connect ruling spirits in the heavens, then the spirit that is being cast out will draw strength and reinforcement from the strongman.  They are residing as clusters or nests of spirits that are connected to the stronghold (Principalities).  These demons dwell flocked together, such as anger, murder, violence, hostility, unforgiveness, perversion, homosexuality and other demons inside people.

CHAPTER 10 BATTLES CONTINUE

THE BINDING OF DEMONS

There is a brief point I would like to make on the exercise of the Christ Power by believers in binding the powers of darkness, as duly authorized by the Lord:

“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”- (Matt. 18:18; KJV).

Now, it is very important for believers to, while binding the powers of darkness, mention the specific forces or the areas of their operations. After binding such forces, the believer can as well cast them to specific location. For instance, one can mention and bind the demons of vanity, fear, anger, lust, forgetfulness, etc.

If one is also aware of certain locations of concentrated demons, one can direct prayers to such locations. But one must be a true Christian before he can prevail in doing this. It is dangerous for one living in sin to do this, because the moment the thick smoke of your prayer is noticed in the realm of the forces of darkness, you will become a target of attack...

Ch. 5: The Truth About Spiritualism

...When the medium at a seance enters a trance, a control spirit takes over and allegedly introduces the spirit of a dead person.  In reality, the unseen visitor is a "familiar spirit" who intimately knows the dead person.  Apparently these familiar spirits accompany a person throughout life, becoming so well acquainted that they can convincingly imitate the dead person's mannerisms and knowledge of personal details when called upon at a seance.  In this way even close relatives are tricked into believing they are hearing their dead loved one.

I believe this was what happened to the late James A. Pike.  He went to several mediums who told him they had contacted his dead son, Jim, Jr., and that father and son could communicate in a seance.  Pike supposedly did so on a number of occasions, as he describes in his book, The Other Side.  Actually, Pike talked to a spirit who was familiar with his son.  This spirit impersonated his son so well and favorably that Pike overcame his remorse about his son's suicide, and looked forward to rejoining his son.  Bishop Pike was a rather easy convert to spiritualism, since he, like the spiritualists, rejected the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, and if Jesus is not God, he cannot be man's Savior -- nor does man need a Savior, in Pike's view...

Chapter 13

...More than 70 Million adherents worldwide believe that they can talk to their Uncle John or Aunt Mary -- when this person was living, they probably wouldn't have even considered taking their advice, much less asking for it."

Chuckles broke up the seriousness of the discussion, and we adjourned to have some lemon cake that Sue had make that afternoon.

When we finished, Dave continued, "A lot of mediums attempt to tie Christianity into their spiritism and frequently quote Scripture and sing Christian songs -- the only thing wrong is that they quote the Scripture out of context and change some of the words in the songs."

"But where does the message or voice come from -- when it seems someone else is talking through the medium?" asked Janie.

"In most of the cases there is no 'different' voice, just a clever medium who is very good at guessing and leading a person on.  But in other cases, a demon actually takes control of the medium and poses as the departed person."  Dave explained.  "Sometimes, two or three demons get in on the act, and there really are multiple voices."...

CHAPTER 6 The Night Raiders

WHO THE NIGHT RAIDERS ARE

Familiar spirits - These forces go about confusing men and women, causing disasters, initiating people, distorting people's lives, causing demotion and fueling the power of household wickedness. The strength of these powers lies in the fact that they are thoroughly familiar with their victims. They are able to carry out their evil activities because the secrets of their victims are known to them.

Chapter Two: WHAT HAPPENS WITH DEATH?

...I witnessed many lost souls of men and women on their way to hell.  These lost souls, irrespective of their age whether young or old, were unprepared for their death that had come to them suddenly.

It is important to note that the earthbound spirits are a myth.  These are demons in the guise of the deceased and appear in their forms and often mistaken as ghosts.  These demons certainly do not need the help from mankind to cross over to the other side.  This is a deception played on gullible and uninformed minds.

During my many trips to hell, I came across many such demons that appeared to people as ghosts.  Beloved, you cannot be earthbound because you do not want to leave this earth after your death.  It is impossible to stick around on earth after death.  This is clearly mentioned in the Bible: "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27).

I saw lost souls compelled to continue that terror-bound journey on the path in darkness much against their will to their doom...

Chapter 6: Testimonies

...I want to share our experience in a home delivery to help others.  My husband and I had been married for eight years without children.  In Novembers of 1976, I went to a minister for deliverance.  During this session it was revealed that a hex was upon me because someone showed me water-witching when I was ten years old.

One of the curses was no children.  This was done in complete ignorance of the fact that water-witching is demonic, and it opened a door to Satan.  Before my husband [and] I were married, we had consulted a ouija board, thinking it was just a game.  Also, a spirit was interfering in my blood to prevent our having children.  After all these things were revealed, we broke the power of Satan in the Name of Jesus, and I was set free.  I was redeemed from the curse (Gal. 3:13) and conceived the next month.  Praise Jesus!

Chapter 11: Miracles Do Happen

Night Skirmishes

...During the first month I dreaded going to sleep.  Satan knew that I was learning to stand up to his attacks while I was awake and alert.  Ah, but those night hours, when one is asleep and the mind is not alert to the enemy's approach -- that's when he's at his best.  I began to have the most tormenting nightmares, reliving every pain of the past.  There was not a moment's peace to be found while I was sleeping.  Every moment was filled with terror.  Johanna put a small handbell on the nightstand in order to call her if I needed her.  I never needed to use the bell, for my screams awakened her almost nightly.

Satan may have been a bully during the daytime, but when darkness fell he became the master of deception.  I was unable to fight his deception because the nightmares were so real; it was difficult to separate reality from imagination.  At times he was so deceiving that I was certain I was still being abused by the evil persons of my past.

Oftentimes, and for a period of time it was every night, I would awaken to hear Johanna praying beside me, rebuking and binding those spirits that Satan had sent to terrorize me.  I became very familiar with her prayers.  She would pray in the most authoritative voice I had ever heard: "Satan, I come against you in the name of Jesus Christ.  I come against every evil spirit you send to do your bidding.  I command your workers of iniquity to take your hands off my sister and depart from her.  Lord Jesus, I ask for the covering and the shielding of Your blood over her mind and body.  In Jesus' name, Amen."

But Satan was relentless.  He and the spirits who had been sent to do his bidding would not back off after the first prayer.  They did not want to leave a person over whom they had had free reign to torment and terrorize for years upon years.  Oftentimes he would hang in there with a fierceness that would intimidate even the mature Christian warrior.

Satan attacked me in diverse ways.  I often felt as if I were choked to death -- I actually felt hands on my throat and found myself gasping for air.  I often heard the fiendish laughter of evil spirits, and occasionally I felt their presence around me.  Sometimes the spirits would make the sounds of babies crying in torment -- the crying sounds that I had heard in reality as I witnessed the torture of a baby used in a satanic ritual.  One night Johanna found me crawling into the bedroom closet in an attempt to get away from the mimicking sounds which the evil spirits were making of crying babies...

Chapter 3

...Although out of witchcraft, Todd was still having problems. He wasn’t completely out of the occult’s grip. As he put it;

“When I was saved, I still contained all of the psychic powers I had for two weeks. And I kept wondering what was going on. And my eyes still had kind of a look that people who have been around Witchcraft, or have been in Witchcraft, know the look I’m talking about. And my eyes still contained this look. And people in the church were wondering what was going on. Although I was trying to live a Christian life really hard, wasn’t really involved in sin, but still had all of this psychic phenomenon happening around me and was still very bothered with the things I had come out of and addicted to them. Not the drugs, but the psychic powers. And finally the church decided (that) if it was good enough for Paul, it was good enough for them. And they took me off in a room and prayed for me for about five hours. And they demanded that the spirits that I had allowed in myself, through asking them to come in through witchcraft, to leave . . . They even called the demon of epilepsy out of me . . . And when I walked out of that room, I no longer had any psychic power whatsoever.” - John Todd

But he wasn’t out of the woods yet.

There were still those vows of secrecy that he had been required to take upon becoming a member of the council of thirteen. Those vows would have to be broken completely in order for him to sever himself off completely from his former life. He would have to reveal everything he had been privy to and to publicize it all. And this is exactly what he did...

CHAPTER 4 Strange Dreams

...While in the dream world on another occasion, I found myself in a village with nothing but trees and an old house in the middle of it. The leaves of the trees looked like serpents. As I got closer, the serpent-like leaves took striking positions and started trying to bite me. Again I screamed the name, JESUS, and woke up.

Whiles sleeping with Kathy by my side on another occasion, I dreamt that I was in bed with a woman-like affair. The walls of this dream-state room looked beige and the window curtains looked semi-transparent and beige. This dream must have taken place on a bright summer afternoon in the dream world because I could see everything in the room so vividly that I thought I was having a broad daylight experience. The woman-like affair had long fingernails, clear crimson pupils, big wide-opened eyes, a rough hair that stood straight up on her head, and sharp vampire-like teeth. This woman-like affair was black in complexion, had on a white nightgown, and looked very frightening and menacing. This demon started snarling at me while coming at me with her long finger nails as if she was trying to bite and scratch me up. As she snarled and came at me, the power of God came upon me and I suddenly started rebuking her in the mighty name of JESUS. It was a very frightening nightmare. I thank God that he gave me the power to rebuke that demon before she could hurt me.

As I said, “I rebuke you in Jesus’ name! I come against you with the blood of Jesus Christ! I send the fire of the Holy Ghost against you!” et cetera, the power of God struck her, and she started writhing violently and could not come at me anymore.

All of a sudden, I woke up from my sleep...

Session begins at 5:30.  Deliverance ministers employ a straightforward method of calling Marty's ranking demons to
the front (of God's courtroom) to demand confession of their "legal rights" to Marty.

All directed questions are spoken in the name and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Every response from the demons,
furthermore, is tested (I John 4:1) as to whether it will stand as truth before Jehovah God.

IV. PROPHETIC WORDS
Picture
Lomax, Glynda (August 25, 2016). Creatures

In the world around you in times to come, My people will see the invisible realm. For those of you who do not see now, this will be frightening, but it is for your good that I shall open your eyes then. Otherwise would the deception be so great, none of My people would survive at all.

The creatures you shall see then are from the pits of hell, where the enemy of your soul reigns. They will attempt to terrify you, but I command you now – Fear not! Do not give place to the enemy in this way. You shall fear the Lord your God only and Him only shall you serve.

Remember when that time arrives that what you are seeing is not anything new, but things that are very ancient. They have always been around you, but you have not always needed to know this was so. In that time, it will be necessary for you to live without being deceived by those who are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Fear not, only believe in Me. I am well able to protect you.

Ephesians 4:27
Neither give place to the devil.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Deuteronomy 6:13
Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Psalm 121:7
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

Psalm 91:2-9
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

Picture
Lomax, Glynda (May 24, 2017). Destruction Unleashed

My children, as the destruction falls, you will see terrible things in your atmosphere. I desire to warn you of this so you will understand.

Destruction unleashed is something you have only glimpsed in make-believe. You have never truly seen destruction unleashed in your world and it shall be a terrifying sight. With destruction come many demonic entities that have heretofore been in another realm where you could not see them. These were not meant to dwell on the earth, but will be loosed for a season upon the wicked. You cannot kill these with weapons, and this, too, shall make you afraid, but you, My children, have the true weapons to keep them away from you – My Word, My Blood, and My Name.

This is part of why it is imperative you learn about Me now. You need these weapons and the knowledge of how to use each one stored up on your heart for that time, for it is not far into the future for you.

I forewarn you in My Mercy.

Revelation 12:7-12
...
(7)And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, (8)And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

(12)Therefore rejoice,
ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time...

========================================

The following is from a dream I had in the 1990s (January 1, 1999). Today (March 5, 2018) is the day to release it.

DREAM:  I was with a group of people who were all anointed, Spirit-filled believers. We all had the power of the Holy Spirit. We came against a group of witches who were trying to destroy us and/or give us trouble. No matter what they tried to do, I knew what they would do in advance and would thwart their efforts through prayer. Whatever they tried to do against us, would backfire onto them.

In one part of this dream, the witches were going to sacrifice some kittens. I rescued all of them, except one that I was not able to get to. I saw a witch take the kitten to skin it alive. She put a knife on its back to start skinning it, but while she started to cut the kitten, cuts started appearing in the same place on her back.

I then saw one of the male witches say “they are going to blame you [meaning me], because we don’t have any knives.” He showed me how they were able to make their swords look like aluminium foil, through the use of magic. I then said something and the “aluminium foil” turned into what it really was . . A sword. So again, no matter what they tried to do to either harm us, or to cause trouble, it would backfire upon them and happen to them.  ~ End of dream ~

========================================

Why must I release this dream today, after 19 years? Because the anointing from the Holy Spirit has increased and it’s time now to go on the offensive. A shift in the Spiritual realm happened on March 3, 2018. We’ll see the darkness grow darker and the light of the LORD grow brighter in His true believers and followers who are submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The phrase that came to my mind this afternoon (3-5-18):

“Fractured Dimension”

What the phrase “fractured dimension” tells me is this: we are going to start seeing demonic entities entering into our physical realm. They are NOT ALLOWED to fully manifest yet, until the Heavenly Father gives permission.

You may start seeing “odd things” out of the corner of your eyes, or fleeing quickly in front of you or above you as you drive. Remember, the POWER of the Holy Spirit in you (1John 4:4), is greater than ANYTHING that the dark side of Satan will unleash.

DO NOT FEAR!!!

DO NOT FEAR!!!

DO NOT FEAR!!!

We are entering into the MOST supernatural times since the beginning of time; both the satanic dark false signs and wonders and the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT moving in and through those who have been prepared for this time. The Bible tells us about both of these things:

II Thessalonians 2:9-10

...(9)Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, (10)And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved...

And yes, I’m repeating this again:

John 14:11-13
...(11)Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

(12)Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (13)And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son...

The following are dreams that highlight our authority and victory in the midst of the darkness (see links below). I want to highlight the two things that I know, that I know, that I know:

========================================

WOW-WEE . . . I must share this with you: I had to stop writing this post to make supper.  Background info you need to know . . . . I have a new kitten that I got from Destiny Youth Ranch, named Destiny, to be a companion for the kitten (“Alph”) that I brought in when the temperature here went to -26, with wind chill of -45.  Anyway, I was preparing supper this evening (3-5-18) then saw out of the corner of my eyes, the new kitten (Destiny) by the door in the kitchen. She and Alph are living on the 2nd floor, with the door closed to the first floor. I prayed against that “vision”, thinking it was possibly what I described above . . Witchcraft. Oh my, an hour later, as I’m serving up the stir fry, I look over and there’s Destiny, in reality, right in the area where I had perceived her just an hour before. Alph was right behind her. The door was not closed all the way and there they were. WOW-WEE!!!

The point of sharing that? It’s a confirmation to that dream I had back in 1999, which I’m sharing with you right now. . . . And it’s a confirmation to “fractured dimension”. The time-space dimension has been fractured by what I sense was something that occurred at CERN on Saturday, 3-3-18.

GET READY . . . Strap into Jesus and KEEP that Full Armour of God ON (Ephesians 6:10-18). . . It’s going to go “WILD WEASLE” (As “The Hawk” frequently says). We’re going to see some really freaky stuff folks, but remember: GREATER IS HE WHO IS IN YOU . . .. JESUS CHRIST . . . YESHUA.. . Than he who is in the world (1John 4:4).

========================================

Post-Publish confirmation (3-5-18).  Please look at this video about CERN made on 3-4-18:

Analyzes a time-lapsed live camera feed over CERN headquarters (in 30 min. intervals) -- where a curious, translucent brown object manifests over the waters.
